Hi all, I'm XP Pro and want to make a start up disc, My 80Gig HDD is split into 2 partitions about even space on both C and D.
Both are formatted in NTFS I think it's called, but the disc shoes up as format FAT 32, and I can't select NTFS in the dialog drop down it only shows FAT 32?

Any help would be appreciated.

Floppies can only be formatted in fat 32. And before Mattie gives me an education, yes, fat16 also. LOL!!

... in fact, floppies tend to be FAT12

I was going to not mention that as it can be rather misleading. LOL!

Thanks Guys,
I suspect I may go to my Acronis True Image and make a bootable CD there.

Thanks for the comments and banter.

you're welcome :-)

and if i may suggest to abanandon the floppy disk altogether. a nice bootable CD rom makes more sense.

you may create one yourself or get a ready-to-go image (like Hiren's Boot CD or the Ultimate Boot CD)

I'm curious as to why you need a startup disk?

The only problem with CDs is that you can't write to them like floppies. You can make bootable USB flash drive with this utility: http://h18000.www1.hp.com/support/f...
