hello,
i post because i followed all advices re "formatting hard drive with windows xp cd". i actually WANT to format my hard drive, but the install process won't offer the possibility...
what else can i do, my floppy drive is out of order, so no boot possible this way.

If your floppy is the problem, maybe order another one, they are real inexpensive anymore. Good Luck
