Specs: Windows XP
Hi there,

Please can anyone help -

I bought a epos pos system that does not have a cd-rom or floppy drive.

I had assumed that the computer would have had windows XP but it does not have anything on the HDD.

The only connections are USB, serial port etc.

Please can anyone advise on how to format the HDD and install windows XP.

Any asistance in this matter would be greatly appreciated.

Do yourself a favor and buy a cd rom. Install it and then you can install xp easily.

I don't mind buying a cd rom - no problem.

But it would have to be an external CD-Rom via USB.

Would that work with when re-installing windows XP?

there would have to be bios support for booting an external usb drive.

if your bios has that option then certainly you could install from the external usb device.

hopefully that system is not OEM only

You can't do anything until you find the drivers for the unit

I'd check that you really do have an x86 system of some type. It could be a pos terminal.

Why did it take me over a year to phone in a problem to ATT?
