HELP! I lost my BIOS password. I work from home and now, of course, cannot access my laptop at all. I called HP and couldn't quite comprehend what they were saying. Can someone help me if you know of any special software or something I can do? If so, I really do appreciate it!
Most Sincerely,
DonnaDonna Marie Flinn

Hi donna..I wonder how could you lose it..but this is not our point..Well i think the first you must do is to remove the battery from the mainboard and put again after 1 minute...Try this step...
If this doesn;t do anything, reply and say "NO it doesn;t work"..
By that time, i would surely have something else in mind for you...KingstoN Is Out! ;p

Before posting try google. Backup. Use anti virus software.

I am not confident either of these suggestions will help. This is a Laptop and the security that is built into them is different than desktops. I think the OP will need to deal with HP. The extra security is by design. Newer laptops may have as many as three passwords.

It would be helpful if you supply the exact model of your laptop - that's often on a label on the case somewhere, often on the bottom.
OtheHill probably has it right.
If the laptop is less than about ten years old, you probably cannot remove the laptop password(s) - the password(s) on newer laptop mboards is(are) stored on a flashable chip separate from the bios chip on the mboard that cannot be erased by removing the cmos battery or by removing all power or by clearing or flashing the bios.
Software that wipes or resets the bios settings won't work either because the passwords aren't in the bios itself.
If the hard drive has a password it cannot be removed even by the experts, except in a tiny number of cases (most experts will tell you it can't be done), even if you or they could figure out how to wipe the drive - the password info and whether the drive is "locked" is stored in a area on the drive not visible or accessible to the user.Your best bet is to rack your brain and try to come up with the proper password, taking into account passwords are case sensitive - whether characters are typed in upper or lower case is important.
If you still can't come up with the password, your next best bet is to contact HP again. If you have sufficient proof you are the legitimate owner of the laptop they may be able to tell you how to remove the password(s), such as by using a special "master" password, but there may be no such thing for recent laptops. If not, in order to use the computer, you will have to have the chip on the mboard replaced that the password(s) is(are) stored on, or replace the mboard with one that has no passwords, and if the hard drive has a password, you will have to replace that with one with no passwords, and re-load your original software using Recovery CDs.

"I lost my BIOS password. I work from home and now, of course, cannot access my laptop at all"
I think that there is some confusion here. You would not need to access the bios to allow you to use the laptop.
Please offer us a bit more infomation on what happens when you try to do what.
I read it wrong and answer it wrong too. So get off my case you peanut.
