hi all i have xp home edition and recently whenever i load up the computer it gives me a message that says that essential windows files were replaced by some unrecognized versions, and it says that i should put in my service pack cd...the thing is, i can still use the computer with that message hanging in the background; it becomes just another window that i can ignore...the fact is, i have no clue where my service pack cd is so i was wondering if there was some other way to fix this problem. thanks for any tips you might provide

You could try downloading the service pack again and create a CD from the download. Insert the CD as requested and see if this rectifies the problem. The download is available here:
