Hi Mosaddique. This is a follow up to my request for help on corrupted MBR on Toshiba laptop. I heard back from the Toshiba "specialists" saying that my motherboear was shot and it would cost me seven hundred bucks plus Canadian to fix it. Obviously I wasn't going to spent that much on a two or three year old laptop so I collected it from them. I couldn't see how a dead MB could keep sending me error messages. When I got in my car I tried the F12 tip you gave me and presto I was offered the boot sequence choice. When I got home I changed to CD boot and ran my recovery disks and more presto. I'm back in business with nothing lost except a bit of time. Fortunately I had an almost current back up. Moral....don't believe everything they tell you. many thanks for your BIG help Sincerely Stewart

Greetings XpUser. Thanks for your link. Unfortunately entertaining is not a word I would associate with those horror stories. I have memories of having existential conversations with offshore tech assists where no matter what one said to them they kept repeating the same response obviously reading from some crib sheet. I suspect Kafka wrote their scripts. just what you don't need when suffering from advanced computer neurosis. Keep the faith Stewart
