Hi,
I followed what you said to a tee. I know have SP2, but I am still having the same problems with IE.

When my computer boots up it now says:
Title..Creative Taskbar
The sound card in the system is not properly installed...reinstall

Title..CTL Tray
Same message as above

When I signed onto IE. my home page was set to Creative.com. I changed it to msn.com
My computer has creative.com as my default homepage...is there a way to change that and could that possibly be the problem?

I downloaded/ran and updated all the things to said to get.

Spybot found DSO Exploit, Ave A, inc., and Double check. I fixed those problems

When I ran the AdAware scan this is what it found.
3 possible browswer hijack attmepts
2 were in Doc\Settings\owner\Favorites\Free AOL and unlimited
the other one was favorites\links free aol

the 3rd was in doc/sett\owner\desktop\free aol

there were 4 tracking cookies - ie cache entry and they were data miner

what is MRU? that was found in adaware? I didnt do anything with these files.

When I updated my McAfee AV i had a hard time setting up IE to recognize the active x controls to update my AV. I did get that to update though.

When we reinstalled the software for this computer, we did not install the ASUS Probe. you had asked me last night if I had that. Why is/could this be a problem?

Please let me know what else I need/can do to correct this IE problem. I dont want to load to many programs.

I d/l hijack this if you need to see that. There are IE entries in there, but I dont know or understand how to use that program.

Thanx for your help,
Nanette

Hi,
Update:
I got rid of the message regarding creative. I installed the wrong version of Sound blaster. There is still a problem though, I tried installing SB Live and it says it cant detect the card.

However, the rest of the problems are still here

thanx

nanerre, i think that you might be better off and certainly will get your problems fixed faster if you send a remote assistance request to one of the stars of the show here, per maybe (dont know if thezse will do it).
it seems to me that an hour of wandering around fixing your settings and system might just do the trick.
most of the problems you are comming across are simply because you have not followed the instructions to a tee, probably due to been awake sooo late

i hate computers!
but cant help myself....
