This post is a bit long but worth it.
I've come accross this a few times and have found a fix for the problem:- when double clicking a drive you get a message saying that windows cannot find copy.exe and to open the drive you have to right click and browse to view it etc. Very annoying so here is the fix i've found :-

HKEY_CURRENT_USER
Software
Microsoft
Windows
CurrentVersion
Explorer
MountPoints2 key which makes this file to be default Autorun handler for all drives in your system (local drives like C, D, E, etc, CD/DVD-ROMs, removable drives like USB drive and so on). So when you double click on some drive Copy.exe file is executed by Windows. Some anti viruses remove it improperly which causes "can not find copy.exe" error message to appear.
Or if you delete Copy.exe file itself, "copy.exe missing" error when accessing drives will appear. You can however still access your drives by right-clicking on them and selecting Open but this is very inconvenient.

1) Kill all processes related to copy.exe trojan (including but not limited to host.exe, xcopy.exe, temp1.exe, temp2.exe and svchost.exe)

2) Delete all files related to copy.exe trojan (including but not limited to host.exe, xcopy.exe, temp1.exe, temp2.exe and svchost.exe)

3) Clear all references to Copy.exe virus from Autorun.inf files on all drives or simply delete these files (please note, that this may stop some other useful autorun functionality of drives)

Go into the registry and navigate to the following :-

HKEY_CURRENT_USER
Software
Microsoft
Windows
CurrentVersion
Explorer

Delete the following key only -

MountPoints2

So this is Security/Virus related? Might want to have it moved to that forum.

Well considering that you might not think you have a virus in the first place then erm....no.
It doesnt behave like virus activity, just makes a change to the registry. I've never actualy had anyone post a reply informing me that I should have put my post somewhere else and when I see it on other posts I always think ' that person was only trying to help others and someone just had to bring it to their attention of how unthoughful they where by posting it in the wrong section.

Oh and this can also happen when you put a pen drive in someones infected computer then put it in another computer, it makes the change to the registry and doesnt flag up on any antivirus programs.

But thankyou for bringing my stupidity to my attention.

Your pretty snotty for some one that mentioned virus and trojan four times in your post and then complains that someone suggested you put it in the virus forum.

Ok maybe i was a little bit over the top on my reply.
My appologies for coming across snotty but all i'm trying to do is help and when this happens to your pc it doesnt seem like a virus or behave like one so people more than likely wouldnt search through the virus forum as it just seems like a windows issue. I understand that my first post mentioned virus activity and this was posted by someone else so i copy and pasted it here to help anyone that might need it.
My appologies also to jennifer but i just think that some people need to realise what they are suggesting to someone can seem offensive and make them feel like they have done something wrong. If I had thought it was virus related i would have posted it in that section.
Anyway at the end of the day I just hope that the first post can help someone who has this problem on their pc.
