Hi Derek - if Dropmyrights is still in your thoughts and you want more food for it - the following is a three part DropMyRights Triology written by Michael Horowitz:

Part 1 - Why Every Windows XP user should drop their rights

Part 2 - Installing & configuring DropMyRights

Part 3 - Living with DropMyRights

If by chance you have already seen them, maybe other users will find this post useful.

Best Regards

Never had a single malware problem running Admin. I guess I'm just too stupid to get infected?

Of course I do update my OS/apps/plugins religiously; no SP3 tho'. I stay away from IE except for Windows Update, which I think probably helps.

I also research software that I plan to install as to the possibility of piggy-back "undesirable-ware" *before* installing it. =)

Thx for remembering me...

I use if for all manner of programs but strongly advocate it for your browser if nowhere else. It's free and is nothing more than installing a tiddy program and making a suitable shortcut (so don't get put off by all the verbiage). You don't really know it is there.

Whatever, it can do no harm, and as it might save you from picking up something it seems odd not to bother using it. Prevention is always better than cure.

I've had no problem with Windows Auto Updates, the only time it backfired is getting certain MS downloads as files "if I got them using my browser". Not much of a price to pay, you just keep your old shortcut kicking around for that rare occasion.

some other bloke...
