Folders open in search window

Here is what happens. When i double click on any folder it opens a new window and the new window is a search window.
Here is what i did before everything went wrong: In any folder -> Tools > Folder Options > File Types -> Registered File Types: Selected -> File Folder from the list > then clicked Advanced -> then clicked Change Icon.. and changed the icon. After that my problem happened. I have changed icons this way before and never ran into this.

Most likely what you did, what associate the WRONG file with the icon. Go to:

Download the new free version 6.5
You will be amazed at the TWEAKS you can make. In there, are tools which will allow you to fix the problem you are talking about. It has a re-set system icons to original (default) tool.
