In windows XP a folder with files in it that worked previously in "My Documents" was dragged to the desktop and now will not let me access it " *file name* is not accessible. Access is Denied" "Make sure the disk is not full or write protected and that the file is not currently in use" Help would be so appreciated, there is pictures in there and video clips very important :( Thank you!

Hi XPuser! Long time no see.

Since when do you have to "login" to view Microsoft knowledge base articles? This must be a recent thing or else it's been a while since I tried to view one!

Hi Misky :-)

No I just didn't feel doing the extra work to give the clickable link to a question that have been asked too often on this board - How to Take ownership of file & Folder. I just copied & pasted it instead.

AWESOME!! I now have ownership of the folder and can open it. I see the details of what is in there but when I double click on the .jpg file it says "can't determine type" and when I double click on the video clip it says "Windows Media Player cannot access the file. The file might be in use, you might not have access to the computer where the file is stored, or your proxy settings might not be correct." Can you help again??! Forever grateful!!!

I even did a search at the "support,microsoft.com" website for that article number you posted and when it came up in the search and I clicked on it, it still took me to a login page!

This is something new I think. I've posted many direct links to articles in the past with no "login" requirements :(

HI jamiegirl - glad you got it and thanks for posting back.

Musky - I never loggled in to perform MSKB search. The paste & copy url would have taken you to this CLICKABLE LINK. Does it bring up the specific MSKB?

Yes, that link takes me right to the article. I don't know what the problem was before, but now I can link directly to the KB articles again.

Oh well, it may have been a cookie issue.

Thanks XPUser! Nice talking to you again!

Thanks XPUser! I guess from your vantage it seems you have to answer the same questions a lot. From here, it's harder, because we may not know what to ask. But I always know that somewhere, someone has had the same problem and can point me to a solution. XP has been notably good to me, and problems have been few and relatively minor. (unlike Win98, 1st edition) Just once, a storm comes up and blewy.

Thanks for the great help; I am sure it is appreciated by a whole boat load of folks, besides me.

Bob

A positive attitude won't solve all your problems, but it will annoy just enough people to be worth the effort.
