i'm working on an hp prebuilt comp, 1.3 ghz and all the generic stuff on it. about 2 weeks ago, the floppy drive stopped recognizing the disks i put in. at first it said that they needed to be formatted, but it couldn't format. i tried formatting on another computer and then using it, but it still didn't work. now it won't even acknowledge a disk in the drive. i can't get into bios because of the hp thing, does anyone know how to fix this?

Sounds like your drive has failed.
Even HP OEM's should allow you to upgrade the BIOS, have you checked HP's web site for assistance with BIOS upgrading HP boxes?
Dumb question, but are you sure you are using 'good' floppies? One time I saw this problem it was because of someone trying to use low density floppies in a 1.44 MB (high density) drive.
