I really do not recall how far back this began, because I rarely use the A: drive, but I did notice few weeks back and still have a yellow exclamation mark on the floppy drive in device manager which I totally ignored.
Double-clicking the drive gives me "Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)". I have uninstalled and reinstalled the drive from normal and safemode a dozen times, the wizard detects the drive everytime, and then I get "A problem occurred during hardware installation. Your new hardware might not work properly".
I even tried this fix after turning off XP's file protection but no luck too. Any suggestions people as to how to get the drive back in My Computer folder.

Your floppy may have bit the weenie. New ones run about 20 dollars.
I may be crazy, but I'm not stupid...

Hi sabertooth. May be a bad drive or try sfc /scannow.
Please post back within 24 hours or I will delete the post from my follow up list. Thanks.

Anyone know a way or even some generic driver with an installer that can override what I got now?
