Name: Eric
Hello,
I have a Biostar MV7IT Ver. 1.00 motherboard,AMD Athlon XP 1700+ @ 1.47 GHz Processor, 256 MB DDR RAM, Windows XP Professional (SP1), a 40 GB HD, a 3.5" Floppy, GForce 4 Video Card, 3Com Network Card, and a 48x Lite-on CD-ROM drive.
I recently got went to the Biostar website (http://www.biostar.com.tw/) and they said I should Flash my BIOS to an updated version.
So, I used the windows-based program called AWARD FLASH that came with my computer MV7IT Driver CD. It said the flash was successful and to restart my computer. When I restarted, the computer would not even turn on, with the exeption of the fans spinning on the processor, and the system...
The CD-ROM drive lights up for a moment, but the Floppy drive does nothing at all. The system doesn't even beep.
I have tryed resetting my BIOS with the jumper, even with the battery being removed for an hour, EVEN BOTH AT THE SAME TIME!!!
I have even tryed to boot without any of the IDE cables attached.
I am pretty sure that the only problem is, is with my motherboard... I just don't know how to flash the BIOS in these circumstances... The floppy drive doesn't respond, and the CD-ROM only does a self-test and doesn't even read and CD's.
Is there a way I can flash the BIOS from another computer somehow, or any wierd advanced ways to flash the bios in these circumstances. Please tell me!! Thanx!
Eric.

Sound's like your bios has been wrongly updated, you only need to update if you have a problem with your hardware, anyhow seems your BIOS is dead now, if it is a removale BIOS (eg. Chip not hardwired) then you could replace it, ask manufacturers for details. Hope it works out for you.

The jumper and battery are for resetting the CMOS not the BIOS. From your description you had a bad bios flash and resetting this requires sending the motherboard back to the manufacturer. I have no0 idea of the cost but imagine it's not cheap.

There is a company called Badflash http://www.badflash.com/address.html that specializes in recovering from bad bios flashes. I hope that the things that were causing you so much trouble were worth taking the risk you did in trying to correct them with a bios flash. Good luck.

go into your bios and try setting the setting to default, that should do the trick, if not then ure doomed!!

Hey, thanks for the reply's everybody... I will check out these sites tonight... I didn't really have a problem with my computer, but at biostar's website it told me it was STRONGLY recommended to flash my bios to the newer version, as the old one had a security issue of sorts...
But thanks for the advice...
Eric.
