I have installed Flash player but everytime I goto a website it tells me Flash player is not installed. When I reinstall Flash it gives me the option to repair then it works. But it keeps doing this can anyone help?

I had the same sort of problem. It took me a long time to figure out the cause. Maybe it's the same thing you are experiencing.

Check out the following entry in your Registry. If the value you have is a one then change it to a zero. If it's already zero then you have a different problem then I had. I don't remember if a reboot is needed. If it doesn't work without a reboot then reboot and see.

Let me know if it works for you.

Key Name: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM \CurrentControlSet \Control\ FileSystem
Name: NtfsDisableLastAccessUpdate
Type: REG_DWORD
Value: 0 or 1

Are you using the NTFS file system or are you using something like FAT32?

Only NTFS volumes have this option. If you are using something other then FAT32 then what I present to you won't work.

My problem was the Flash program located in "Windows/Downloaded Program Files". The program is called Shockwave Flash Object. Is this partition NTFS???

Having NO last access indicator made Flash think it wasn't installed everytime I went to a Flash web site. Just like you I was asked to install it again. And each time I used it again it asked to be installed again.

Just dawned on me that if you ARE using NTFS then NOT having this entry means that it is NOT disabled The default is to update the last access indicator unless you add it to the Registry with a value of one.

So it appears you are OK with this option. That being said then what I did won't help you.

You still might want to look at the Flash Object thing I mentioned. Maybe your problem is also related to something not being set correctly for that program.

I know it sounds strange how I fixed my problem but it did indeed fix it.
