Flash Player does not work in IE7

For some reason although I install the flash 8 player and see the flash animation to indicate that it was installed successfully I'm unable to view web pages that contain flash. I've tried rebooting closing the browser, etc. , but still no luck. I'm running ie7. Btw, i have firefox and it works fine. What's up?
