OS: Windows XP SP2
CPU/Ram: Pentium 4 - 3.4 mhz / 102

For some reason my Internet Explorer can't view SWF files. They simply look like images when they can't be found.(A red X in the top left corner). I went to macromedia.com and I tried installing it but the security dialog never appears. all my security settings are set to the default level but still nothing happens.

is the page the install page linked from this link
this page also give the install info;
such as
You must close all other browser windows before installing.

Also, you may have security turned up to high in IE, or a firewall that is preventing the connection.

Check your security settings, You do need to close the browser after updates. Windows sometimes a reboot is required, for system updates... Since IE is tied into windows directly, try rebooting as well.. :)

An alternative is SWF Opener - a FREE program that plays flash clips.
