Flag with small numbers

I want to flag items in a Word document. Word has an insert feature but, it has only numbers 1, 2, and 3. I need to create numbers up to 10. See example below. ¹ Harry ² Beatty

It's called superscript, as you probably know. You seem to have done it just fine in this post.
In Word, type in the number you want, where you want it. Highlight it. Go to Format, Font. Toward the bottom are a number of things you can do. Check superscript. Voila.
