i had XP SP1 and recently installed the SP3.
i read the SP3 requirement before i installed the SP3, and it requires the SP2. but installation did go through. and i don'tquestion: is there a possibility that that computer might not work properly in a later time?
any idea? thanks.
and what is SP anyway? Hotfix? .net framework?
I'm just asking for a lil help. Pls bear with me, maters.

SP3 has all the updates, etc. included so there is no need to install SP2 or even SP1.
Service Packs are major upgrades to the software. When MSoft releases a SPack for Windows it includes all the updates, and hotfixes that were released prior to the SP release.
Net framework is something entirely different. There are many minor and major releases of net framework. Look at the link below for an in depth definition.

Depending on your PC, I have uninstalled many SP3's from PC's because of it was incompatable with many progs, PC's and also network connections.
SP2 has been the best choice I have found so far IMOSome HELP in posting on Computing.net plus free progs and instructions Cheers

As a personal experience, I have had no trouble at all with SP3 (Service Pack 3). I know there are issues with SP3 on computers with some AMD processors. I have so far installed it on this computer, a Novatech laptop and an older machine and not had any trouble with it.
How have you avoided the SP2 update? Do you not have auto update turned on?
As XpUser4Real stated, some users have had trouble with it. If you have already installed it and your computer is ok and everything is working, then leave it installed but if you install software that relies on some of the updates that were included with SP3, then uninstall SP3, those programs will no longer work! You will get a warning telling you about this though.Computers... designed to entertain, help with work but most of all to frustrate you!

hi folks,
thanks for the ideas. i really appreciate it.
I'm just asking for a lil help. Pls bear with me, masters.
