Hello !
My system : IBM Thinkpad A31p model, P4 1.7MHz, 256MB RAM, WinXP Prof.
While bringing back from Stdby mode my system got stuck and I had to switch it off. On power-on I start getting following message
"STOP: c0000218 {Registry File Failure} The registry cannot load the hive (file). \SystemRoot\System32\Config\SOFTWARE or its log or alternate. It is corrupt, absent, or not writable."
Taking help from the groups I restored the files from repair directory and my system boots again fine but now I am back to my first installations of WinXP.
Here I wish to ask is there some means I can fix the corrupted registry file. I have seen lots of tools available but not sure which one to use and don't want to experiment in this case. It will be great if some of you guys could help me out with this.
