After installing a firewire card in the computer, my network would not work. I tried static IP, DHCP, Even renaming two dll's (Adaptec's solution) No firewall installed, no virus scanners installed. Nothing worked.
There was one more thing,, to reset the default registry keys for microsofts dhcp search,, it kept looking for something like 162.xxx.xxx.xxx

But,, after really screwing the machine,, I simply rebuilt the machine. Poof,, It worked.

This problem has plagued several people on the web boards (yes, I checked a lot of them with no real solution.)

If anyone else is really stuck with this,, you might want to try rebuild with the card in the machine. I realize this is not a worthwile solution. But it is one that works.

Hope this helps some other poor lost soul looking for anwsers
