OS: windows xp pro
CPU/Ram: Athlon xp 3000+ 512 MB
Product: Acer
Comment:

1394 Connection 3 constantly gives the status of connected on my laptop, which has inhibited its abilty to comunicate through that port.

Having a wire in or out hasnt changed its status, disabling and re-enabling similarly has not solved it.

Any ideas,
Matt

I would delete the IEEE 1394 Contrller from within Device Manager, reboot and let XP reinstall it.

Thanks for the idea, but to no avail.

I've tried uninstalling the IEEE 1394 Bus host controller - no luck

similarly uninstalling 1394 Net Adapter - no luck

Also tried a system restore to before i was using the controller - no luck

once i've finished this cursed courswork i'll be reinstalling xp / linux to retest the connection

in the mean time any further ideas short of the ones i just gave are very welcome.

thanks, Matt

Scratch the last one, it seems to die after transfering a certain amount of data... still unknown to me how to get it back.
