Comment:

I posted yesterday about my computer going incredibly slowly! I tried everyhting that was suggested but nothing has worked. I have discovered that vsmon.exe seems to be an issue, it's related to zone alarm and although the memory usage is quite normal for this process the VM is in the hundreds of thousands! Something is definatley amiss here - can anyone help - I can post hijackthis log if that helps?

post a hijack log.

try in safe mode, you will most likely have under 18 tasks running.

can u manually end the process via the windows task manager?

maybe uninstall zone alarm? (I recommend iolo pro 7)

Yes I have cancelled the process in task manager, but then it started again so cancelled it again. Not really that sure what safe mode does and how it will help - very much a novice on this front! Here is log, hope you can shed some light on this frustrating matter!

My Advice is to use the Windows Firewall. Zonealarm did nothing but crash my computers. Windows has these features but many people do not know and splash out on 3rd party software often at a cost of system speed and stability......

There is one subtle yet vital difference between opinion and fact; and the bigger man is he who can whole-heartedly admit this.
