I am trying to figure out how to make firefox open the link that is clicked on in a new Window, not just advance me to the next page, but, when the link is clicked on with the left mouse button, I want it to always open links in a new window.

Thanks guys.

It doesn't do what I want it to do. I even restarted Firefox. But no, I want it to open a new window anytime I click on a link.

You might find that the behaviour is determined by the type of link you are clicking.
Links within a website to other pages within that site will always take you to that page re-using the current window.

Links to external sites are acted on as per the instructions provided in response 1.

Just think about what you are asking for.
If every link you click opens a new window you will very quickly overcrowd your taskbar and in my humble opinion possibly lead to system lockups. IE may have the settings available to do what you want but it doesn't seem FF can do so.

Why do you want to open in a new window? That defeats the purpose of having tabs.

i know that it would slow my computer down to do it, but I have my own reasons. I am not going to open more than three windows at one time, and I have a quad core computer, so slowness is not an issue.

It would take too long to explain why I need Firefox to open each link in a new window, but I know what I am doing.

Thanks

If you are determined to open links in a new window then simply rightclick on them and select that option from the context menu. Surely if you are only going to open up to three at a time you can use two clicks instead of one to achieve your aim rather than expect the software developer to incorporate a feature that no-one else in the world would use.

Actually, I cannot have there be two clicks, sorry, but what I am doing will not work that way.

No, I do not expect the developers to incorporate that, but I was merely asking you guys if it was possible.

What exactly ARE you doing that requires the link be opened in a separate window? You opened this thread two days ago; would it take longer than that to explain why you need the links to open in a separate window?
