Solved Fire fox and IE keep crashing

Specs: Windows XP
Browsers crashing. Fire fox and IE keep crashing but seems to crash more when I have more than one page open at a time. Carried out the firefox recomendations resetting updating etc closing add ons etc etc it makes no difference. I have had this problem for well over a year. I even had a new pc built but still it crashes. Pssssst off

Firefox takes a lot of memory. I set my virtual memory to system managed. Try that first. How much memory is in your machine? I have 4GB & I still have problems.

Yes cleaned temp files / using fire fox memory optimizer. I am now trying one of the suggestions and using wise care to look at my start up programs to stop the programs that are not required on start up.

Will let you know if that sorts browser crashing.
