Files won't unhide/won't show text OS: XP pro CPU/Ram: 128
Comment: After putting several files on my desktop in a folder to free up space on my desktop, several of these files have decided to not display text correctly. Actually, most of them are word files, and most of the text in them doesn't show up at all. It has been replaced by little boxes and other crap that you might see in a cookie file or some such. When I try to open them , I am prompted to put in my Office XP pro cd to install something (can't recall what). It says that it is required to display text correctly. After installing, unfortunately the text displays in the same grotesque manner. Some of the files were created in XP pro on this computer, and a couple of them were sent to me as attachments to emails(probably created with a different version of word).
Does anyone have any possible answers to this problem? Thanks guys.
