Hi,
How do I check if a file (adware/spyware) is running in the baackground? If so, how do I kill the process? I have a file named CustomB in my temp folder that I cannot delete. Someone else is using it. Help!!
Bob

To delete an 'in use' file you have 2 options - 1) restart in Safe Mode & delete it or 2) use a program like 'MoveonBoot' which lets you choose a file to be deleted as soon as the system is re-booted. In the meantime, use HiJackThis to look through for the file & have it remove any mentions of it.

"""""How do I delete an "undeletable" file?
Thanks to MS-MVP Kelly Theriot for this tip.
Open a Command Prompt window and leave it open. Close all open programs. Click Start, Run and enter TASKMGR.exe Go to the Processes tab and End Process on Explorer.exe. Leave Task Manager open. Go back to the Command Prompt window and change to the directory the AVI (or other undeletable file) is located in. At the command prompt type DEL <filename> where <filename> is the file you wish to delete. Go back to Task Manager, click File, New Task and enter EXPLORER.exe to restart the GUI shell. Close Task Manager.
See more good Windows XP information on Kelly's Windows XP from A-Z web site.
