Hi all, I've been haveing a problem with all the files inside folders opening up very slowly, like 30 to 40 seconds with either a right click or double click. Does anyone know what could cause this to just start happening? I don't have a virus or a trojan. I use Norton's antivirus, ZoneAlarm Pro, AdAware, Spybot-Search & Destroy and Spy Blaster. I also have a router. I have done three seperate System restores, 1 week, 2 weeks and 1 month back. I have updated video and mouse drivers. I did a sfc /scannow as suggested by someone else but it didn't help, in fact I don't have any idea what it was supposed to do. Also this computer is a Gateway if it matters but their support sucks. Everytime I have a problem they end up telling me to reinstall windows, so I end up fixing the problem myself. Sorry this is so long and Thanks. Glenna

Try the Bazooka adware and Spyware scanner. its really good and it works if you know how to use it.
Bazooka Adware and Spyware Scanner detects a multitude of spyware, adware, Trojan horses, keyloggers, and trackware components, sources of irritation that many antivirus products do not deal with. The scanning process only takes a fraction of a second and tells you how to uninstall the invasive spyware or puts you in contact with the spyware developer for the most up-to-date and safe uninstall instructions. Spyware and adware often is bundled with software such as Kazaa, Morpheus, Grokster, iMesh, Xolox, and Gnutella, and in many cases it's installed without your knowledge. Some send information about your surfing habits to ad companies, which target you with pop-up ads that fit your preferences. Bazooka Adware and Spyware Scanner search for Gator, GAIN, Bargain Buddy, CommonName, FlashTrack, IPInsight, nCase, NetRatings, NewDotNet, SaveNow, and WurldMedia.

Thanks Art for the suggestion but I had already done an online scan and that is why I knew that I didn't have any virus'or other problems like that. But now I have some GOOD news. After I finished posting my problem I did what I should have done in the first place I looked at all the other posts and found one that was close to my problem. After reading the suggestions posted by Johnw on March 20, 2004 for simon's "cpu is slow to open my documents" post I decided to give them a try. I would never have thought changing settings in my network connections would make my files start opening up normally again. Thank you a thousand and one times johnw you saved my sanity! Glenna
