Name: kl365 Date: February 1, 2008 at 07:35:53 Pacific OS: Debian 9.1 CPU/Ram: 1.7/512
Comment:
Files from a network share randomly open as read only.
- AD Administered workstation
Troubleshooting: - Only the one instance of the file is open (confirmed multiple times) - Parent folder has user group with full read/write access - file has user group with full read/write access - Windows Classic folders Enabled - rebooted workstation
Basically trying to track down any other reason a file would become flagged as Read-Only.

I wonder if the system sets the file as 'read only' when one person opens it. That would prevent a second person from changing the file during the time that the first person is accessing it.

The OP might be one of those people who give the specs for the PC they are posting with, instead of the problem PC.

The file might be in a shared folder that you don't have "edit" right access to? Might have to give the members of teh group the ability to edit.
Does this problem happen if you access the file with another user from a different OU?
