Comment:

I have gotten two viri/trogan thingies in the last month.

My AVG identified both of them. The last one was Istbar.8.bc. I did not run either of them and sent them to the virus vault. One was an exe file I downloaded and the Istbar was a gift from a website that I visited.

Like I said neither were run by me so probably no damage was done. I did find that AVG reported three files had changed.

shell32.dll shows a change on 4/18/05
user32.dll shows a change on 5/10/05
ntoskrnl.exe shows a change on 5/10/05

Wondering if these are dynamic files that I can not replace or if they are replacable. Does windows rebuild them? All the files are in the correct location but ntoskrnl is a boot kernel and I wonder if that just will rechange the other files when I boot.

All virus scans and ad ware etc scans are ok.

Any thoughts appreciated.

AFAIK, those files should not change.
