Hi. How well does the files and settings transfer wizard work in XP? My boss wants me to transfer all his work data from his old PC to his new one. Does it do a good job or is there a better program out there? Thanks.

It will do a good job of transfering the files and documents. It WILL NOT TRANSFER programs and applications!

To me...the best way is to make back up copies burned to cd and drag and drop the files from the cd/dvd... reasoning is that if something messes up then you have the hard copies to use as possible repairs!

Personally, I think Files & settings transfer is good.
But as lurkswithin says, you will need to re-install programs.
I would use the Files & settings wizard, save to a folder & burn to dvd.
That should save the documents.
It will save outlook settings, but not passwords, so make sure you or your boss knows them.

Before posting try google. Backup. Use anti virus software.

Thanks for the replies. Is there a program out there that will transfer programs too? I don't want to tranfer the partition from the old PC to the new PC. Thanks.

Don't hold me accountable for this...but i think most manufacturer's of harddrives utillity program actually does that and doesn't image the partition or drive. You will need to slave the old drive to the new computer by eide or sata and not USB as it dose this within DOS.
