General Background:
I am replacing a hard drive for a new one. I want to transfer all files via the network to a folder on another PC by using the Files and Settings Transfer Wizard located on XP in the system tools folder.

Details:
One of the laptops I use at work currently has a 10Gb Hard drive. I want to replace it with a 30 Gb hard drive. I have XP on the laptop now, and I am going to put the same XP os on the new one, if that matters. The laptop has alot of miscellaneous files mainly created on Microsoft office programs. Such as Word, Excel, frontpage, etc... I found Files and Settings Transfer Wizard in the system folder (start->all programs->accessories->system tools)
And I ran it, then followed the onscreen insctructions. It allowed me to select file types to be saved, including basic settings. It appears that it will backup *.doc, *.txt, or whatever to another networked PC or media. I just want to know if anyone has used this because the information I will transfer is of considerable value to me. Has anyone been successful with this? Any pros cons I should know? Does it matter that the XP CD is the same Cd on the old Hard drive as the new one. I know you cant use both OS simultaneously. I want to make sure that it will allow me to install it on the new hard drive so I can download my settings. I guess I just find it alittle hard to believe that XP comes with such a nice program. Thank you in advance!

may be a good time for a backup of files on a cd or dvd.
