file transfer between DOS and WinXP

OS: WinXP
CPU/Ram: Intel P4/ 256M
Comment:

I need to do file transfer between two computers, one of them is DOS system and the other one is WinXP.
I tried LL3, however, the tranfer rate is quite low and sometimes it is quite unstable.
Are there any other methods?

Maybe take the hard drive out of the DOS machine and temporarily put it in as a slave on the XP?
