Specs: Windows XP
Is it possible to share a folder without authentication on a 2003 server without needing to create a local/domain account?

I need to map a drive to the server share and have client XP pc's who don't have local user accounts on the server and aren't connected to an AD.

As a current work around, I've created local accounts on the server with the same pw as the client pc's user accounts but would like a simpler fix.

Why wouldn't you want to authenticate the user? If you want a non secure way of sharing files then setup an FTP server. No authentication is needed. * Just Joking *

Did you try giving the "Every One" group full access, under the Share Permissions? I personally delete the every one groups because they are security risks.

The share is needed so clients can access system files for a program. So obviously I don't want the users having to enter a password to do this.

Yep I had tried adding everyone to the share permissions list but didn't work.
