File shareing between XP and 98

Im trying to enable file/ printer shareing between this XP machine and my 98 machine. I have enabled file shareing on each. I followed the instructions to create a network setup disk, and placed it in my 98 machine, where it copyed files, then rebooted twice.
I set the ip address on the second ethernet card, on master computer for ip address 192.168.0.1, but when I then repeat this on the 98 machine I get "this system has detected a confict for ip address 192.168.0.1 with the system haveing hardware address ......"
Can someone here please guide me as to what I might be doing wrong?

You can't have 2 of the same addresses on a network. It's a unique identifier, give the second machine 192.168.0.2, make sure both machines are in the same workgroup too.

Thanks for the quick responce, I changed the ip address on the lient machine to 192.168.0.2 so as not to conflict and the error is gone, however I am still unable to get my master computer to show up in the network neighborhood on the client machine even after following the instructions on the site provided above.
