Every time I sign offline Norton does a quick virus scan of a file named "sap.dat."

I search for it but am unable to find it...

What is the deal?

In Windows Explorer or Control Panel,
click Tools in the Menu bar,
click Folder Options,
click View tab,
in Advanced Settings list, find and click
"Show hidden files and folders"
Then search again.

If not found, try:
In Windows Explorer or Control Panel,
click Tools in the Menu bar,
click Folder Options,
click View tab,
in Advanced Settings list, find and uncheck
"Hide protected operating system files"
Then Search again.

Go to AOL computer checkup. It may say you don't have the latest version of 9.0. Anyway, install 9.0 S.E. upgrade ,then run Norton update. This is how I cured the problem on my computer.

The pop-up that originally came up changed to a pop-up that read something like: your computer is now protected by Norton anti-virus and the sap.dat pop-up stopped coming up.
