OS: Windows XP Pro
CPU/Ram: Athlon 2000 /256 MB RAM

Everytime I reformat, and everytime the same thing happens after about a week of usage I get an error on boot up that says "the following file is missing or corrupt: C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CONFIG\STESTEM\
I know how to fix it using the Microsoft fix, but it still does it. It's a brand new machine, is it possible that its the RAM or another hardware piece....I have 4 of these machines that are exactly the same....but this is the only one having the problem!!

If you suspect RAM download and install memtest86. Let it run and see if it turns up any errors in RAM.

As for other hardware problems what does your event viewer say. You can quite often get clues from there.
