I used to be able to go up into my left hand corner click file and then click work off line.It is no longer there not even the fileIcon.

babyblue, Go to the link below and under the letter "T" scroll down to "Toolbar - Missing" and download the "Toolbar Repair Utility" then run it which may correct the problem. It's worth a try.

babyblue, Are you saying the File is actually missing from the upper Menu bar (File,Edit,View,Favorites,Tools,Help) or if File is there and Work offline is missing from the context menu when you click on File?
Tufenuf

What the heck is "there"? You need to clarify what you are talking about. Are you talking about Windows Explorer left pane? If not, WHAT?
i_Xp/VistaUser

Dear xp/vistauser
I dont think I am not explaining myself correctly!!!!
Top left corner I have only these ICONS>>Edit,View,Favorites,Tools,Help My FILE ICON is missing.I truly dont know how to be more specific on this matter.

babyblue, where are you looking? Your browser? Internet Explorer? Firefox? Windows Explorer? Something else? You need to be "SPECIFIC."

Jen & XpUser, I think that babyblue means the File button on the Menu Bar underneath the Title Bar in Internet Explorer or Windows Explorer. I don't know why he/she is saying ICONS. I thought the Toolbar Repair Utility would correct the problem but evidently it didn't.

I guess the use of the word "Icons" and the subject "File Folder" really threw me off.
babyblue "Below Internet Explorer" really isn't much help. Do you mean you don't have the "File" option on the menu at the top of the Internet Explorer window?
Try this:

Or this:

Im would first and foremost like to oppologize that my computer terms are not advanced>>>novice. But am willing to learn.
It is subject file that if you click on it you have the option to work offline.
Doe this help.

Try this procedure
Start
Run
Type "regsvr32 /n /i inetcpl.cpl" without the quotes in the window and press enterIt should repair IE toolbars per this website
http://windowsxp.mvps.org/IEBlank.htm

babyblue, did someone upgraded you Internet Explorer (IE) from version 6.0 to 7.0?
Here are the steps for making sure you know what version of IE we are talking. On the Top most line (called Toolbar) go to HELP > ABOUT INTERNET EXPLORER. This will tell you version of Internet explorer.
For additional help on IE7.0
Right click on the Toolbar (the top most line where it says Edit, view...Help).
then, make sure it has √ tick mark for MENU BAR and STATUS BAR
then amke sure it has CUSTOMIZE COMMAND BAR and SHOW SELECTIVE TEXT.

As for your Question effient I tried out the Internet Explorer 7.0?But it was not to my liking so I switched back to (IE) version 6.0.And that is what I am running right now.Thank you tho.

babyblue, Go to the link below and download the "XP_ToolbarFix.zip". Usage instructions are on the page. You want to fix the Menu Bar. Let us know the results.

Good Luck,
Tufenuf

Thank you Tufenuf
I have done this before http://www.dougknox.com/xp/utils/xp
And that also did not help.

babyblue, Do you have an actual Microsoft Windows XP Pro disk or do you have a recovery disc that comes with some computers? Are you running Windows XP Pro SP2? Right click MY Computer, choose Properties and under the General tab it will show which version you're running.
Tufenuf

That part is simple as I am the one who installed it.It is a legal copy of winxp pro.I am running service pack 2.A few days ago I ran my xp disk to reinstall anything that could be missing and still to no avails did it help.I am now thinking of blowing away my c drive and perhaps reinstalling from scratch.

babyblue, I'd try the Microsoft link that Jennifer posted in Respnse Number 12 above. I'd try Method 3 first and if that don't correct it try Method 4.
Tufenuf

Not necessary to do a reinstall, and I didn't suggest that. I'd run an IE repair first. texas, you posted the same MSKB article I did in Response 12.

Well I would like to thank everyone that did there best at helping with this puzzle. But I have tried all the suggestions with no avails.

babyblue, try a system restore to a time before the problem started. Or, use Firefox. :)

Thanks for all your help greatly : )

babyblue, Glad all is OK now and I wish we could have found an easier solution so you wouldn't have had to do a reinstall. That was a weird problem that I have never seen before. Thanks for updating us.
