Howdy, how do i prevent access to my files, for example in documents and settings, there is my file with my stuff, cookies, files on desktop etc, is there a way to say, when my dad logs on that he cant access my file folder, now i tried in the options under the sharing tab "make this folder private" but i cant check it, i have windows Xp Pro edition with a router to a laptop, if that helps.

Hi
It sounds like your HD is formatted in FAT32 ,if so you may consider converting to NTFS for added security as you will then be able to check the "make this folder private" box. If you search around this forum you will find some info on FAT32 vs NTFS. They both have there advantages and disadvantages so read up and decide, but be aware that this will affect all data stored on the computer...

Start->Run->type cmd->type convert c:/fs:ntfs where c is the drive you want to convert.
