I've been spending multiple hours trying to reinstall my earthlink isp files. The message that keeps showing up is : "Earthlink has detected that your computer does not have the folowing components required to connect to the internet. -remote network access(DialUpNetworking) -Network Interfaqce Card or dial up adapter -tcp/ip protocal" It thaen asks me if I want to install them. If I say Yes, then It Displays "File Error cannot find SETUPX.DLL" and shuts down. I have run a diagnostic through the hp program that indicatesinboundmailserver failed and outboundmailserver failed. I did find a trojan virus on my Norton Scan but it is quarantined. I recently installed a microtek scanner with its software. Otherwise I'm at wits end. Any advice for resolution?

system restore did you try that?

I tried system restore , multiple dates, and it advises me "unable to complete restore point. I even tried an application recovery, but it could not finish. It advised "stop: coo218 (registry file failure) the registry canot load the hive (file). |sytemroot| system32| config|security It is corrupt absent or not writable". Thankyou for your suggestion though.
