File deletion - probably easy!!

Hi all,
got a problem, I've downloaded a DIVX file (500MB) which I no longer want, however when I try to delete it windows moans that the file is in use, but I've checked task manager it does not appear to be, I've scanned for virus', removed the app that I downloaded it with (thought it might be referencing it), anyideas?. oh i'm using XP (stupid I know)

Use a 98 boot disk and navigate through DOS to the location and delete from there.

Try to drag it to RecycleBin then empty it

start up in safe mode *remember where your file is* and del it,
also you can reboot and hit F8 as it starts up, give you a list of styles to boot into...

somehting else to do if it's stuck on the desktop where most people download things to for some strange reason is to kill the explorer task and leave task manager open. with it dead you can delete files, and explorer cannot lock them. then simply run a task and make it 'explorer' and you're back.. without a hefty file...
