If you are running XP and want a secure file permanent deletion program, then read this! For a while I was using Evidence Eliminator, which at first glance seems like a pretty cool program! After a few weeks EE started to crash during who elimination, I needed secure deletion because of business transactions that I wanted erased! I contacted Evidence Eliminator who claimed to be a big NY company to explain my problem but they didn't seem interested, all they said was that EE wasn't yet fully compatible with XP! so I thought, OK, I need a program that is! I was still on my EE trial, and thought I'll just delete the trial and carry on as normal, but when I uninstalled it, it wouldn't fully uninstall and gave me a popup saying I needed to contact EE to get instructions on deltion of the trial, when I contacted them, they said that I could NOT delete the trial unless I paid 50% of the full registration price of $149 (£100). There was NO WAY I was going to pay them a penny so I contacted Trading Standards about the so called NY based multi million company only to find out that it is infact a 2 man (brothers) operation from a bedroom in NOTTINGHAM, ENGLAND!!! and was told not to pay a penny to them, and that this is not the first complaint against them they've ad! About 2 days later I recieved full deletion instructions, after Trading Standards contacted them!
Anyway, my point is, if you are running XP and want a secure file deletion program, DO NOT use EVIDENCE ELIMINATOR!!!
Now I use CYBERSCRUB and it seems MUCH MORE EFFICIENT AND SECURE and only costs $29 (£22) and would highly recommend it to anyone!
Sorry this was so long but I thought anyone wanting to use EE should know this!

What happened to MC? And know I will not delete this message. Well said and makes a good point. I don't use any of these products cause I only view stuff that is legit on the internet. Yes, some of the sites I visit may be for adults but they are not illegal and being single :) I can do those kind of things. Hell, did it while I was married anyways. Life goes on and it was a good post.

Laters,

KTTD

P.S I just have not found the correct words bro.

Matt,

I have used EE for some time now...
well the version that is XP compatible.

To tell a little about me:
I am a Computer Forensics Examiner..
I am A+ and MCSE.

Now, I knew that they were based in England.
I have checked their product out completely.
and it does erase evidence that enCase software would have picked up.

However, based on this standard (enCase Software)that Computer Forensics Examiners use on harddrives, EE works.
Now, I then tested the harddrive using a different software, (name not given for evidentiary reasons), EE failed at some exams.

I would say that it is a good program that erases your junk and files, but for $149.00.. is it worth it..??
I will look up your cyberscrub and test that.. and see if it works.

Tank863...

PS... I still like Norton's wipe, I don't know if it is compitable with XP...
it will erase file slack space...which can contain a vast amount of evidence.

Matt,

I checked out and tried to find information on Norton's WipeInfo, but could not find support for WinXP.

It does work with Win 95.,98 and ME.

It was a very good program, came with system works or by itself at one time
