I pride myself on know computers. I've taken computer courses and am even work in IT. But I now have a problem I can't fix. This File will not delete. I've tried Safe mode and Norton. It always says that the file is in use. I have tried through DOS but it will not remove it. Any help would be nice.

in dos you need the file attrib.exe if you use a windows 98 startup disk, if the file is not there it is in c:\windows\command
the command is:
attrib -h -a -r -s filename
after this command the file can be deleted

Are you sure you were deleting it through DOS, and not just the XP command line (cmd.exe)?
If so, you could exit out of all non-system-critical processes, THEN exit out of explorer.exe. Hit ctrl+alt+del, go to applications, and hit new task. Now try deleting it through cmd.exe, making sure to take note of ding's attribute comment.
Otherwise, ding's comment on starting up with a '98 disk should work regardless (assuming you HAVE a disk drive and a boot disk).

Thank you all for the suggestions. The file is a 2 meg file calling itself SNES.exe . I've searched the registry and everything else for the file or anything relating to it but i can't find it. I can't seem to find any harm it is doing but it still worries me.
