Specs: Windows XP
I have a file called fst.exe listed in my programmes where the other short cuts appear like windows update. What is this application ? I am hesitant to run it without knowing anything about it. My Norton does not see this as threat.

fst.exe change system user

fst.exe if genuine should be in > C:\ Windows\ System32\ fast.exe

You say it is in Programs, so it is suspicious, run malwarebytes as already suggested.

Then run all of these free online scanners.

Run the following free, online virus scans.
Using ESET's Online Scanner
