Seems the age old security risk of windows
file and printer sharing (which can be fixed
assuming users wish to use the patch
containing that fix, but since I don't trust MS
and it's patches because they often install
and/or unistall undisclosed features, etc), I see
there's a work around for those who use
internet connection sharing on networks, but
the workaround is unclear to me in one
particular aspect.I see that "uninstalling" file and printer sharing
is done by going to start>settings>network
connections>LAC>then see "this connection
uses..." and then highlighting it's "file and
printer sharing for microsoft networks".Obviously uninstalling it by then clicking
uninstall thereafter prevents any unwanted
sharing, but what if we simply un-tick it, what
does that actually do?Might un-ticking it, simply disable file and
printer sharing and also prevent any networked
system from accessing shared files?I'm sure some of us would like to know if there
are any differences between just un-ticking it
and uninstalling it, maybe someone knows
and will afford a comment.Regards and hap-e-trails, Steve Hopper
