Dear Group:

I use 'Active Ports' to monitor inbound and outbound TCP and UDP packets.

I notice sometime that for a few seconds svchost.exe connects to a remote port and receiving packets from akamaitechnologies.net.

I did some research and found this site is a front for the FBI.

Does anyone else know about this?

Thanks!

wayne

Not FBI...just ISP :-P Check out the info. I also translated out some of the data packets with a sniffer and it is basicaly doing DNS queries and reverse lookups...ISP stuff.

Ahh...I spoke too soon!...it's a little more than just simple DNS queries...but still harmless. It is a web caching farm. See link to Akimai Technologies and how they work with ISP's.
