hi there. i keep getting major problems with my monitor. when I am switching the computer on in most cases I get a huge burst of colour filling the entire screen.. merging into one another as the colours change.
after I manage to get past this problem (usually after a few restarts) i get a screen full of horizontal lines, again across the whole screen. i realise the computer is working because in most cases after i hit enter i will see the manufacturers logo (as usual) and then the windows loading screen - and then from there the monitor runs smoothly with no problems.
it is an expensive monitor although i have had it for about 2 years already.. i really don't want to throw this away because it does still work despite problems starting.

Well, two things - try another monitor or try another video card. If there is not an available monitor to test with, go buy an inexpensive, base level video card to use for testing.
