hi there. i keep getting major problems with my monitor. when I am switching the computer on in most cases I get a huge burst of colour filling the entire screen.. merging into one another as the colours change.

after I manage to get past this problem (usually after a few restarts) i get a screen full of horizontal lines, again across the whole screen.
i realise the computer is working because in most cases after i hit enter i will see the manufacturers logo (as usual) and then the windows loading screen - and then from there the monitor runs smoothly with no problems.

it is an expensive monitor although i have had it for about 2 years already.. i really don't want to throw this away because it does still work despite problems starting.

thanks for reading guys.

Well, two things - try another monitor or try another video card.
If there is not an available monitor to test with, go buy an inexpensive, base level video card to use for testing.

Rule #1: Good Computers don't go down.
Rule #2: There is no such thing as a good computer.
