time to get your windows disc out and repair windows. if you dont have a windows disc - i.e. a dell recovery disc then ask around to see if you can get one.

Thanx for your replies...i dont have the dell recovery disc...i cannot even go to safe mode command prompt mode...system shuts down immediately...i have already tried to do what microsoft kb says about this error...i did it with normal xp bootable disc...the article says,
"1. At a command prompt, type System Root\System32\Drwtsn32.exe -I, and then press ENTER.
This command configures Dr. Watson as the default system debugger.
2. At a command prompt, type System Root\System32\Drwtsn32.exe, and then select the following options:
Append to existing log file
Create crash dump
Visual Notification
how to do these steps? i cannot get to system 32 directory...please advise...thanks

If you have access to another PC go to the Dell web site support setion and enter the error code you are recieveing you should get at least a few hits from others who have had this same exact error you are recieving.. This happen to me with my Dell XPS400 system ,I started recieveing a stop error ,I had it happen once B/4 and simply rebooting got me back into WinXP .However the next time the error reared its ugly head after a few attempts at rebooting ,still getting error and BSOD ? I went to Dell on my old PC listed the code #'s from the error message and sure enough a fix was listed on their web site that worked .For my picticular error it was a matter of entering the BIOS and changing in the Drivers section the Hard Drive to ATA Auto Detect from SATA 1 !
Good Luck Nick
