Fatal Error with Product Catalogs

I am trying to re-install Xp on my computer I have windows ME and I have had Xp on for just over a month working fine but then I deleted something not sure what and then started getting problems with xp so I tried re-installing it over top but it didn't fix the problem and created more so I uninstalled it and was going to reinstall Xp from scratch but when it gets to the instalation part I get this fatal error telling me it can't install the PRODUCT CATALOGS and it will not let me preceed any further in the instilation please help me with this how do I fix this and what is Product Catalogs?

hi this is a really easy fix for this error go back to prior os and open the catroot2 folder and delete the contents, end of problem p.s. if you cant return to prior o.s. you can boot to 9x boot floppy and delete from dos its in c windows system32
