fatal error on XP

Im screwed, I think...my power went out during the last 1% of installation of service pack 1, now I get a fatal error when windows xp boots up. I have no idea what to do, it wont even work in safe mode..please help, Thanks

can you hit F8 after you turn on the computer and get to the screen were you can select, "restore to the last good time windows worked"
the wording is something like that, it has saved me in the past.

You are right, there is a caution from MS that failure during installation of SP1 can necessitate complete reinstallation of SP1. I don't hae a suggestion on how to fix your problem but if you have to resort to the major pain of reinstalling, just make sure you download the entire SP1 package at once rather than let WinXP decide what you need. You might also try contacting MS to see if they can suggest anything.
